OUR BILTONG

Biltong is a South African specialty of marinated and dried meat. There is a wide variety of biltongs (beef, impala, ostrich, etc.) and each family has their own homemade recipe which, of course, is better than the others...

Discover our range in the section Shop.

You're gonna laugh... The word "biltong" comes from the Dutch "bil" (how to put it elegantly, "hinds" or "butt") and "tong" ("tongue" or "strip"). Probably a reference to the (noble) part of the animal used for our (amazing) biltong. Or a demonstration of the famous Dutch tongue-in-cheek humour...

We have lovingly refined traditional recipes to eliminate added sugar, allergens and artificial elements. In addition, we only use premium French beef and have developed recipes that (as far as we know) are unique! Why choose Meatomania biltong: read our article Biltong ou Jerky

We do not use artificial preservatives to extend the shelf life of our products.
Because of this, it is possible for our biltong to go moldy if not stored properly.
Please follow the tips below to make sure you enjoy it and get the most out of it!

BILTONG STEAKS
The safest way to keep your whole steaks intact is to store them in the freezer if they have never been frozen before: let us know,
when placing your order, to send you whole steaks that have never been frozen (this can lead to a 4 to 5 day delay in the processing of your order).
Upon receipt, unpack the steaks from their packaging and wrap them in kraft paper: this will allow your biltong to remain protected from insects
and humidity.
Do you have a little peckish? If you froze your steak, take it out of the freezer and let it come to room temperature.
for about 10-15 minutes before slicing and enjoying.

- We vacuum pack whole steaks to transport the product safely.
- It is not recommended to keep your biltong in the plastic bag.
- We recommend that you take it out of the package, let it "breathe" for about an hour,
then enjoy your day biltong or follow the instructions above.

BILTONG BAGS
Always keep your biltong sachets in a cool, dry place (they are packaged in a protective atmosphere).
Avoid transferring your biltong to another container as this will create moisture inside and increase the risk of mold.
Keep the bag closed until it's time to taste our (magnificent) biltong.
Once the sachet is opened, it is best to keep it in the refrigerator and consume it within 3 days.

The cost of organic beef is still very high and the certification itself is expensive. The “organic” label would make our products inaccessible to the greatest number. We are therefore simply "natural" without excluding an evolution in the future :)
